we all need a little direction.
I have traveled a great deal and seen some of the best and worst theater in the country. In my travels to see friends perform, I was appalled at the lack of direction that many of my fellow actors were receiving. Very basic things like blocking, character relationships, story development and not having your leading lady sing her 11 o’clock number upstage behind a tree seemed to be a mystery to these directors. Their mediocre work inspired me to want to create a better theatrical experience for all involved and so I started pursuing directing.
Since then I have had the privilege of directing some great projects and working with some truly talented directors as an Assistant or Associate. As a director, my objective is to create a quality, professional theatrical experience with character- and plot-driven productions, while encompassing the producer’s vision and challenging preconceived notions about theater. Oh, and let’s all have some fun while we’re doing it!
